1940 Issues
Beginning with 1940 the reference printed catalog switches from the Planty catalog to the Mellone catalog which was produced some 20 years before the Planty catalog. In comparing covers shown in this online catalog it is to be noted that the Mellone catalog does not indicate the color of the listed cachets. And the quality of the Mellone photographs is significantly poorer than that in the Planty catalog. Consequently there will be some circumstances where I cannot definitively compare the covers shown here with comparable listings in the Mellone catalog.
