With this issue Crosby began to produce first day covers with what would become his trademark....small black and white photos mounted on the cover with raised thermographic printing. With the first day location so close to his home and the many ships in the harbor available for interesting cancellations, Crosby prepared many different varieties of covers, some with photos, some without, some with the same printing, but with different photos and others with only minor differences in text or design. Additionally, many of the covers were colored with flat ink in addition to the raised-print thermographic printing.
